"To be directed by Lucas meant working with a creator of pop mythology, the man who directed possibly the most influential film ever made and lodged the notion of the Force in the collective psyche. I had twelve lines in two scenes with two days to prepare. All I knew about Star Wars: Episode II and the character was contained in the pages of script I still clutched after the screen test. Confidentiality clauses would prevent me talking of plot points (I didn't know any), the character's relationship to the story (no idea), even the character's name."
―Graeme Blundell[src]

Graeme Blundell (born August 7, 1945) played Ruwee Naberrie in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, although his scenes from Episode II did not make the final cut of the film. Blundell also stood in for Oliver Ford Davies (Sio Bibble) vocally in the scene with Queen Jamillia. Davies could not be there because he was in Tokyo, Japan, for a play.[1]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Blundell was born in Melbourne, Australia. His father, Jack Blundell, was a wireless operator with the Royal Australian Air Force. He has a younger brother named Dennis and a younger sister named Margaret. He and his family moved to Clifton Hill, a suburb of Melbourne, when his brother was born, two years and a half after him. When he was five, they lived in Reservoir, another suburb of Melbourne. Blundell attended Spensley Street Primary School, Keon Park State School, Merrilands High School, Coburg High School and the University of Melbourne.[2]

Blundell has written extensively in The Australian newspaper. He has also written several books, including Australian Theatre: Backstage with Graeme Blundell in 1997, biographies Brett Whiteley: An Unauthorised Life in 1996 with his then-wife Margot Hilton and King: The Life and Comedy of Graham Kennedy in 2003, and his autobiography The Naked Truth: A Life in Parts in 2008.

In 1971, Blundell appeared with Bruce Spence (Tion Medon) in the film Stork. They worked together again in the short movie Three Old Friends, in the 1983 film Midnite Spares and in the 1987 film The Year My Voice Broke. He also worked with Jack Thompson (Cliegg Lars) for the 1976 movie Mad Dog Morgan. One of his castmates in the TV series Medivac was Rena Owen (Taun We in Episode II and Nee Alavar in Episode III). He also shared screen with Leeanna Walsman (Zam Wesell) in the 2000 film Looking for Alibrandi. In 2002, Blundell played again the father of Claudia Karvan (Sola Naberrie) in one episode of her TV series The Secret Life of Us.
