User talk:SpasticColon
Hi SpasticColon, thank you for choosing ShoutWiki to make your wiki.
We would suggest that you start your wiki off by doing these few basic things:
- Upload a logo. You can do this by uploading an image over File:Wiki.png. (not available on some skins)
- Design your Main Page. The main page is likely the first thing users will see. It should be attractive and catch the eye.
- Start building content. All wikis need content to become the best they can be.
If you need help with making a logo, skin or favicon, please see ShoutWiki's Logo Creation Wiki.
If you need any help with building your wiki, feel free to contact ShoutWiki staff either via their talk pages or via Special:Contact. Alternatively, you can talk to us, or other users, via IRC.
Thank you again for using ShoutWiki.

Hey, trooper, any chance of asking you for admin rights? I was thinking of modifying the monobook.css so that the site resembled old-timey Wookiepedia more.

Thanks for the admin rights, but it looks it'll be tough to get this place in shape. Is there no way we can import the templates, scripts and images from the old wiki? The people over at the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance were able to do the same thing. Maybe we can ask them how it can be done? -Merk the Jillsarian Cook (talk) 14:38, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
I asked one of the guys over on the Finnish Star Wars shoutwiki, Jedipedia, which has pretty much exactly the same format as wookieepedia because they copied over the templates and translated them. He said templates weren't working properly due to lack of proper CSS styling. I've updated Common.css, not sure where to go from there. I should mention that it looks like pages don't update automatically. Whenever you change a template, to see the changes on a page that uses it I think you have to go to the edit page and save it as a new edit.

Import Permission[edit source]
You're the highest ranking administrator here right? Do you think you could contact Staff and ask them if they can give us access to Special:Import? With it I can transfer all of the old wiki's content over to here in one go. From there we'd just need to set up a bot to remove all instances of "/Legends" from the articles. -Merk the Jillsarian Cook (talk) 18:08, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
I'll contact them then. Also you can set the skin to monobook in your preferences, but the default is something else and I don't have the power change that. Have contacted staff about this too.
SpasticColon (talk) 18:25, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
Yep, I tried seeing if we could set monobook as the default, but the blasted thing doesn't seem to have a workaround. The sooner Staff comes to help the better. -Merk the Jillsarian Cook (talk) 18:59, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- I updated the quotes so now they'll show a different one every time you refresh. Has Staff responded yet? -Merk the Jillsarian Cook (talk) 17:00, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
No replies. I doubt we're going to get much help. If we do, though, best to keep a copy of the source for custom stuff like the main page backed up, because it'll get overwritten when we import.
SpasticColon (talk) 18:17, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
It won't get overwritten. I only exported content from the Legends categories, so the only things that will get overwritten are the EU pages we already added. -Merk the Jillsarian Cook (talk) 01:31, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
Please could you give me a link to the exported file? Thanks
