- ―Jedi Master Syo Bakarn, on the title of Barsen'thor
Lorjan Sakku was a male Jedi who was apprenticed to a Cerean Jedi Master thousands of years before the conflict known as the Cold War. When Lorjan's brother, Lyhesh, became a victim of an attempted poisoning that drove him insane, Lorjan confronted his brother, defending the Jedi Order against the insane sibling. Lorjan redeemed his brother, but had sacrificed his life in the process. His sacrifice was remembered by his Master, who named her fallen Padawan the Barsen'thor, Cerean for Warden of the Order. The title was adopted by the Jedi Order for future use, and it was awarded to exceptional members of the Order.
Biography[edit | edit source]
- "There's a title reserved for the most prestigious among us, whose wisdom and skill safeguard the galaxy."
- ―Master Jaric Kaedan on the title of Barsen'thor, which originated with Lorjan Sakku
Lorjan Sakku was a male individual[2] who lived thousands of years before the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire[1] and had a brother named Lyhesh. Both brothers were Force-sensitive, and they were discovered by the Jedi Order and chosen to be trained as Jedi. Lorjan eventually became a Padawan to a a female Cerean Jedi Master. At one point, Lorjan's brother became a victim of an attempted poisoning. Lyhesh survived, but the incident drove him insane, and the man became a threat to the Jedi Order. Lorjan bravely defended the Order against his own brother, successfully redeeming Lyhesh and bringing him over to the light side of the Force, but Lorjak had sacrificed his life in the process. In recognition of his actions, Lorjan's Master posthumously bestowed upon him the title of Barsen'thor— which translated to "Warden of the Order" from her native Cerean language. In honor of Sakku's sacrifice, the Jedi Order retained the title and bestowed it upon exceptional Jedi,[2] although only two individuals had received it by the time of the Cold War.[1]
Personality and traits[edit | edit source]
Sakku was a selfless individual who risked his life to stop his own brother from harming their fellow Jedi. Believing in the possibility of redemption for his sibling, Lorjan successfully brought Lyhesh back to the light, even though it had cost him his life. Lorjan's Master then commemorated her Padawan with the title of Barsen'thor, and the Jedi Order adapted the title for future use,[2] awarding it to Jedi who displayed exceptional skill and wisdom.[1]
Powers and abilities[edit | edit source]
Sakku was a Force-sensitive individual, who was a member of the Jedi Order. Before he was able to finish his training with his Master, however, he was killed while trying to stop his brother.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Lorjan Sakku was first indirectly mentioned in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic released by BioWare and LucasArts on December 20, 2011.[3] Although his name was not revealed, the game established that the Jedi Consular character was the third person in the history of the Jedi Order to carry the title of Barsen'thor. In 2012, reference guide Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia established Sakku's name and gender in an entry on Jedi ceremonial titles, although his species was not established.
