13th Strike Wing
Template:Organization 13th Strike Wing was a squadron of Rogue-class starfighters in the service of the navy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.
Description[edit | edit source]
The 13th Strike Wing's IG-100 MagnaGuard pilots used Rogue-class starfighters adapted from the Utapauan Porax-38 starfighter by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop,[1] the starfighters of the strike wing were given enhanced targeting and defensive systems. The fighter craft were painted silver and marked with a dark green sickle-like insignia of the squadron centralized on the top and bottom wing surfaces divided by the fuselage, with a smaller undivided emblem visible on the forward end of each engine nacelle painted on the outer side near the comm/scan system linkages.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
During the Clone Wars, the 13th Strike Wing fought for the Separatists against the Grand Army of the Republic and was one of two squadrons that contributed the best dogfighting units to Escort Flight—General Grievous' elite escort squadron for his starfighter, Soulless One. When reassigned for their escort duty, the ships were upgraded with better tactical and weapons systems.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Clone Wars expansion of Star Wars PocketModel TCG featured two Rogue-class starfighter miniatures, one identified as a 13th Strike Wing Porax-38 and the other being one of two units identified as Escort Flight. Both of Hasbro's Magnaguard Fighter toys—the Titanium miniature and 3-1/4" action vehicle—featured identical markings and color schemes as was used on the Star Wars PocketModel TCG miniatures, identifying them as belonging to the squadrons identified in the PocketModel game, with the Hasbro vehicle displaying an undivided view of the emblem on the forward part of each engine nacalle.[2][3][4]
In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series episode "Holocron Heist," the starfighter greatly resembling a Porax-38 was identified as a "Rogue-class starfighter." Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Incredible Vehicles, published in 2011, then retconned all further appearances of the Porax-38 by identifying the Rogue-class as an entirely different model adapted from the Porax-38 by the CIS.[1]
