"The ag-producers of the Abrion have lived for decades with few options and limited control of the goods we provide. Now, though, we've found appreciative markets without the restrictive bureaucracy of the Republic."
―Esu Rotsino, tending Abrion Major's Articles of Secession[src]

Abrion Major was a planet of the Abrion Major system in the Outer Rim. Eventually, it became an agriworld of the Galactic Republic, supplying many Republic-aligned planets with foodstuffs. During the Clone Wars, the world seceded from the Republic to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Description[edit | edit source]

Abrion Major was a planet in the Abrion Major system of the Abrion sector, within the Outer Rim of the galaxy. The planet was an agriworld and, as such, devoted all of its industrial capacity to agriculture, producing food and exporting it to other planets.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Abrion Major at some point became a Galactic Republic agriworld. Its main responsibilities included the supply of food to other Republic-affiliated planets.[1]

In 22 BBY, just before the start of the Clone Wars, a large conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Abrion Major was directly represented in the Galactic Senate by Senator Esu Rotsino. Due to the planet's ag-producers living for decades with few options and limited control of the goods they provided, Rotsino announced to the Senate that Abrion Major and the entire Abrion sector had decided to secede from the Republic and join the Separatists. As a result, the Senate saw many pleas for aid, since many planets relied on supplies from the sector.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Abrion Major's first mention in Legends was in the HoloNet News article Abrion Sector Secedes; Separatists Get Agri-Worlds, published within HoloNet News Vol. 531 52 in 2002. The planet also received an entry in 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, and its system was given the galactic coordinates of S-15 within the 2009 The Essential Atlas.[2]
