Abbaji was a planet within the Kalee system, which was located in the region of the galaxy known as Wild Space. The planet was colonized and sacked by the insectoid Yam'rii species during the Huk War fought between the Yam'rii and the Kaleesh species.

Description[edit | edit source]

Abbaji was the third planet from the star Iminec in the Kalee system, located within the Wild Space of the galaxy. Situated in the same system as Kalee, the Kaleesh species' homeworld, Abbaji had two moons and a habitable surface. Its grid coordinates were J-4.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Huk War, a bloody conflict between the rival Kaleesh, a species native to Kalee system, and the Yam'rii species, the latter were known for colonizing and pillaging Abbaji.[3] By the time of the Clone Wars, a large conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the planet fell within space contested between both factions. Eventually, a few decades afterwards, Abbaji was bordered by the territory of the Pentastar Alignment, an Imperial splinter movement of the Galactic Empire. Eventually, after the Empire's collapse, the Pentastar Alignment became part of the Imperial Remnant, which then bordered the Kalee system.[2] In the New Republic era, the world's security rested primarily in the Abbaji System Constables, a local military and police force.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The planet was first mentioned in the Star Wars Insider 86 article Unknown Soldier: The Story of General Grievous, written by Abel G. Peña and published in 2006. It was later mentioned three years later in The Essential Atlas, which was written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.

Abbaji became the second planet in Star Wars universe known by that name, with The Essential Atlas placing it and Kalee in the same system, according to Unknown Soldier: The Story of General Grievous. The first planet known as Abbaji was first mentioned in the Shadows of the Empire novel as a world near Endor. Due to this mistake, the planet Abbaji near Kalee was eventually deemed "Abbaji minor" by Jason Fry, although this retcon is thus far unofficial.[4]
