"This next one goes out to the Mud-Jumpers of the 224th, slugging it out on Mimban. Keep your heads down and your seals tight, boys."
―The host of the Grand Army of the Republic broadcast — (audio)Listen (file info)[src]

The 224th was a unit of clone troopers within the Grand Army of the Republic at the beginning of the Clone Wars. Among their ranks was a detachment of troopers known as the Mud-Jumpers. In 22 BBY, the 224th was involved in a battle on the planet Mimban.

History[edit | edit source]

In the year 22 BBY,[1] during the onset of the Clone Wars, the 224th was deployed to the planet Mimban to fight for the Galactic Republic. During the battle, the Mud-Jumpers of the 224th received a shout-out from the robotic host of a musical program on the HoloNet's Grand Army of the Republic broadcast channel. The shout-out, dedicating a song to the group, was heard by other clone troopers[2]—"Echo," "Hevy," "Fives,"[3] "Nub," "Droidbait,"[4] and "Cutup"—stationed at a Republic listening post on the moon of the planet Rishi.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The 224th was first mentioned in "Rookies," the fifth episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' first season. The battle in which they took part on Mimban was later mentioned in the seventh issue of the show's associated comic book serial, Part 1 of the In Service of the Republic arc.
