Corsin was a planet in the Greater Plooriod Cluster.[5] The local year was approximately 0.93 standard years long.[3] Corsin was a beautiful planet known for its love of life and for its swoop races such as the Plooriod 940.[5]
History[edit | edit source]
Around 30,000 BBY during the Pre-Republic era, Corsin was ruled by the space-faring Rakata. Using Force-based hyperdrives, they traveled to many worlds around the galaxy that possessed significant signatures in the Force, uniting them to form the Rakatan Infinite Empire. After five thousand years of galactic dominance, the Rakata retreated to their homeworld following the outbreak of a plague.[4]
The planet was inhabited by at least 1010 BBY, when Nalia Adollu was born in its tropical regions; her being chosen for Jedi training suggests the planet was part of the Galactic Republic.[6] The planet remained loyal to the Republic during the Clone Wars. The planet was subjugated by the Galactic Empire, which deposed the existing government and replaced it with a New Order regime that dispensed with civil rights and placed the entire population under a police state. Journalist Voren Na'al was present when this occurred, leading him ultimately to join the Rebellion.[5]
The aquatic Selligore made its home along the shallow coastal waters of the temperate and tropical zones of Corsin. While the pre-Imperial regime maintained large preserves for the massive animals, the New Order-friendly government authorized development of some of those areas, starving the Selligores there and, in some cases, forcing them to attack sentients.[3]
In 5 ABY, the New Republic sent a task force to liberate Corsin in order to secure a front on the Hydian Way, but they were defeated by Grand Admiral Zsinj. The planet was eventually freed two years later and annexed by the Empire. Corsin stayed under Imperial control until the final death of the Emperor, in 11 ABY.[4]
The Yuuzhan Vong subjugated Corsin in 25 ABY.[4] The world was likely liberated by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.
